The Goochland Elementary and Specialty Center PTA will conduct two more fundraisers in time for Spring delivery. They will run simultaneously, giving a choice of two different types of product for your consideration.
Gertrude Hawk candy which includes mostly Easter chocolates such as bunnies, eggs and crosses. We will get these delivered to us for distribution in time for Easter, before the Spring Break.
Van Bourgondien Dutch Bulbs which will be delivered to us at an appropriate planting time, starting mid March. We will try to have this coincide with candy delivery if possible.
Deadline for submitting completed order forms WITH payment to GES/SC PTA Friday, February 27.
Gertrude Hawk allows on-line ordering where your friends and family can order on-line giving credit to a specific student at GES/SC. Our group# is 707143 each child has their own 3 digit suffix to that. If ordered by end of February, the order can be delivered with the main school order and delivered by the student. Otherwise, orders can be placed on-line until April 3 and shipped directly to the person ordering and shipping charges will apply. Please contact a GES/SC student that you know to get their link.
Any issues or questions with this, feel free to contact me .
Please adhere to this deadline so that our volunteer parents have enough time to tabulate order forms and monies and get the orders submitted in time for prompt delivery. We also ask that you take a minute before returning your forms to verify that the forms are complete and correct, and your total order amount matches the money you turn in. This saves us a lot of time in the process.
Please understand that there is no obligation whatsoever to take part in this or any fundraiser that we sponsor. Everyone’s situation is different and some may be willing and able to take part and others not. This is totally fine. You can also elect to make a donation as opposed to purchasing and/or selling products. That is always appreciated and welcomed as well.
We have decided to run a Spring fundraiser this year in addition to the successful Fall Virginia Diner fundraiser because we did not meet our 2008/2009 budget’s fundraising goal that had been established to cover certain costs and projects. In an effort to keep those plans in place and not have to make cuts, we are hoping to make up the difference with this endeavor.
Our fundraisers cover expenses related to funding certain committees such as Hospitality, which provides food and other gifts of appreciation for teachers at certain times of the year, SOL Tutoring, supplementing costs of 5th grade graduation, and the end of year Field Day. We also purchased additional Sports Equipment needed for the PE classes this year. We do our best to fund different Theater Arts and concert programs for the student body to supplement their arts education.
In the event that we raise more funds than we need to cover this year’s budgeted expenses, in light of the recent well-publicized and unexpected school budget cuts, we will be in a position to vote on and approve any additional assistance to student enrichment programs in the school next year.
We will continue to strive to keep the PTA 3 to 1 rule in mind with our Fundraising efforts so as not to seem like we are only a money-making organization.
Thank you and if you have any questions or issues regarding this Fundraising project, please don’t hesitate to contact me or anyone else on the PTA Board.
